Autumn is a momentous time of year for children, with the changing of the seasons and the leaves falling in nature, and the start of the new school year marking a change in their own lives too! With so much change going on, why not try a new pair of shoes as well? But what should you keep an eye open for when buying autumn shoes?
The first thing to remember is that children’s feet grow fast. Sometimes, the shoes that fit them at the start of the summer might not fit them now, so it’s always worthwhile to measure your kids’ feet before you start your shop. Otherwise, their new shoes might pinch or rub and leave them feeling anything but excited about the autumn to come.
Next, think about the weather. It might still be hot and humid at the beginning of the autumn, but as winter gets closer your child may need shoes with a little more coverage, like boots or trainers. This can also help them to avoid slips and falls on wet leaves and pinecones when you’re out exploring the woods!
Speaking of wet, autumn is a great time of year for puddle jumping and muddy trails, so you’ll want to make sure your kids have suitably waterproof shoes on so they don’t get cold, wet toes.
