Congratulations to our high street hero David Spruce for reaching their 40th birthday milestone! We are proud to be selected by this established family-run business in the heart of Bury, Manchester that has built a brilliant reputation as a fitted shoe expert. Their busy Mill Gate Shopping Centre location in the Union Arcade is supported by a thriving online business, providing fashionable footwear collections for children, men and women. Established by husband and wife Ken and Marie-Anne and now supported by their daughter Coleen and her son William. The family annually raise money for the RNLI and carry out beach clean-ups as they are passionate about reducing plastic waste and protecting our oceans. Committed to fitted footwear and excellent customer service, the highly experienced team, many of whom have been working in the shop for over 20 years, are ready to give you a warm welcome when you pop in to help them celebrate their birthday and try our latest school shoe collection!
We’re sending a shout out to Maddie & Mark’s our brilliant retailer in the heart of Edinburgh which has been established for over 12 years. Jen, who took over Maddie and Marks last year, worked tirelessly throughout lockdown doing doorstep fittings and encouraging shoppers to use our paper gauge to measure at home. They have really active social media so please check them out on Instagram and Facebook and use those platforms to book appointments in store. The team is carefully kitted out with protective gear to keep you safe and excited to welcome you back into store. Throughout August they also ran 25% off all SS20 clothing and donated half of the takings from these sales to @Make2ndsCount a local Edinburgh based charity giving hope to those affected by secondary breast cancer. A visit to the beautiful Southampton base for W J French & Son will evoke childhood memories of exciting trips to the shoe shop, befitting a business that has been operating for 217 years and stocking Start-Rite children’s shoes since 1944. Now in the hands of the eighth generation of the French family, the team, many of whom have been with the business for over 20 years, some for over 40 years, are proudly accredited with Society of Shoe fitter qualifications. With an unwavering focus on correctly fitted footwear and first class customer service, the business is recognised by the Children's Foot Health Register as a centre of excellence for shoe fitting and most recently was awarded the industry accolade of Independent Footwear Retailer of the year 2019 at the Drapers Footwear awards. We could not be prouder to have been part of this extraordinary journey with WJ French & Son.
We’re celebrating Donaghys Shoes which reached its milestone 60th anniversary in March – just at the start of lockdown! Today we want to send them a LOUD shout out to celebrate with them! Established by husband and wife team Peter and Eileen Donaghy in 1960, the team has always put family at the heart of the business and worked tirelessly to become one of the largest independent footwear retailers in the UK and Ireland. Based in Banbridge high street the store is open plan with a super contemporary feel and perfect to keep everyone safe in these current conditions. Little Brogues is the type of retailer that is the perfect fit for Start-Rite. A family run business focussed on professional fitting, quality and stylish shoes, putting children’s foot health at the heart of what they do. The business was set up in 2017 by Simon & Kate and recently relocated from Wildermere to Kendal, Cumbria. The close knit team offers 70 years of shoe fitting experience. Two members of the team also work in primary education and bring this expert knowledge of how children live today to the advice they give within the shop. The team tell us their favourite style is Tarantula, because of the look on the children’s faces when they bring the shoes out of the box! It’s wonderful for us to know the impact our designs have on little ones, while knowing our shoes are doing them good.
